Parents,
Thank you to all who have sent in treasure box items. The kids were excited to find new items to choose from.
We ended our week with a place value STEM challenge. Students were given the challenge of designing and creating a free standing structure following certain criteria. It proved to be a challenge for some groups but I was very proud how they used the 4 C’s (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration). Pictures will be loaded soon.
Wednesday, August 30th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30. Please make sure your student knows how they are going home and send in any transportation changes. Thank you so much.
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: Addition and subtraction strategies within 20.
Reading/Language Arts: We will continue to focus on questioning while we read and retelling stories using beginning, middle, and end organizers. We will talk about characters and how they change through major story events and challenges/We will continue working with long and short vowels, and will introduce irregular plural nouns.
Writing: We will focus on writing complete sentences using capital letters and punctuation. We will also practice adding fun adjectives and descriptive verbs to our writing.
Science: Matter and investigating the changes of matter
STEM: Stuck Like Glue Challenge
Information and reminders:
Monday: ILC with Mrs. Bates
Wednesday: Early Release (12:30)
Special requests:
Any small treasure box items
