Families,
Our first full week was a success! We have continued to work hard to learn rules and procedures and we managed to have some fun while doing it. This week we explored the gardens and made bruschetta, visited the STEAM Stop to see what is available to the children, celebrated our first birthday, and had a team building challenge to practice the 4 C’s. This was all in addition to our regular content areas.

Here is what we are learning the week of 8/12:
Reading/ELA- We will introduce how we can use our schema to better understand the stories we read. We will also focus on understanding character traits and how characters change within a story.
Phonics – This week we will review long and short vowel sounds and nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
Writing- Personal narratives; we will focus on small moment stories and launch our writer’s workshop.
Math- Addition and Subtraction Strategies
(Counting On, Making Ten, Counting Back, Decomposing, Balancing Equations)
Science- We will be constructing explanations for how structures made from small pieces can be disassembled and rearranged to make new and different structures, as well as describing and classifying objects according to their physical properties.
