Families,
Wow! Thank you for all your efforts for our school fundraiser. Our class has reached our goals so please see below for our reward days. We already had extra recess with popsicles. Go Cervi’s, Chasko’s, and Hall’s Superstars!! More fun times are ahead.
Thank you for returning your conference forms. A reminder that report cards are only online and will go live on Monday at 12:00 PM. We will discuss them during conferences, but you may want to view before our conference in case you have any questions. I look forward to meeting with you. Also, don’t forget that the Book Fair is going on during the week. Our class will get a preview on Monday.
Have a great weekend!
Here is what we are learning the week of 10/14:
Reading/ELA- We will begin our unit on non-fiction texts. We will focus on non-fiction text features, and how to read and understand informational texts (historical events, scientific ideas, and steps in a process.)
Writing- We will be writing poems as well as writing letters to our Troops for “The Big Thank You”.
Math- We will focus on addition and subtraction within 20 using mental strategies to solve. Later in the week we will start two-step word problems within 20.
Science- We will introduce our unit on force (pushes and pulls). Students will be asked to design a device that can make an object move, slow down, or stop.
STEAM – Push+Pull Device Designs as well as ongoing Save the Monarchs project.
Important dates:
Monday: Lunch in the class with a movie and counseling with Mrs. Grindstaff
Tuesday: Picture retakes
Wednesday: PJ Day with a stuffed animal
Friday: Game Day (students may bring a game from home to share but please label with your child’s name.) I will have games available as well.
