Families,
We had a busy week! We had a great turn out for Walk to School Day. We were the class with the most participation with 86% of the class walking. I always love the vibe in the classroom on those days.
Yesterday we had a successful STEAM Showcase. Visitors from the county came in and they were impressed with our class as well as the rest of the students in our school. Our kids were able to articulate their questions in addition to how it relates to what we are learning. I was super proud.
Conference forms went home on Monday. Please return the signed portion as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.
Finally, as you have heard, Monday starts the first count day for our fundraiser. I have already heard of some creative ideas that the kids are doing to raise money.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Here is what we are learning the week of 10/7:
Reading/ELA- We will continue to review all strategies taught so far but will focus our review on key ideas and details.
Phonics –Continued practice with vowel teams.
Writing- We will be wrapping up our unit on personal narratives to share in our writer’s celebration. The students and I will celebrate how far they have come as writers.
Math- We will continue with solving word problems with an unknown start or a change unknown.
Social Studies- Government; We will talk about the importance of rules and laws and learn about the roles of the president, governor, and mayor.
Health: Health promotion; food choices and how they affect our energy, teeth, weight, and mood).
STEAM – We started our yearlong project to save the monarchs! We asked the question if Tritt could have a butterfly garden and are doing research to see what that would take. Ask your child why we want to have one and why Monarchs.
Important dates:
Monday: First count day
Thursday: Early Release
