Families,
Today we had our STEAM Showcase and the kids wowed me. Their challenge was to create an environmentally sustainable glue using flour, baking soda, cornstarch, salt, and water. They started with one team created recipe and tried to improve each additional trial based on results. They worked well with each other and we had some successes. Be sure to ask your child about it.
SeeSaw parent access codes will be coming home next week. Be on the lookout so you can see what your children are doing in class.
Remember, today is the last today to place an order to Scholastic Book Club. It will close at midnight.
We celebrated Baxter’s birthday today. Above is what his classmates had to say about him.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend.
Here is what we are learning the week of 9/2:
Reading/ELA-Questioning; good readers ask questions before, during, and after they read.
Phonics – Collective nouns and continual practice with short/long vowels and vowel teams.
Writing- Personal narratives; we will focus on small moment stories and adding sensory details.
Math- Place value; understanding that the three digits of a number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones. Expanded form and reading and writing numbers to 1,000.
Social Studies- Georgia’s 5 regions (Blue Ridge, Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau)
STEAM –Stuck Like con’t.
