Families,
We had a great time at the Sleepy Hollow ballet. The kids looked very nice and were wonderfully behaved. I think most of them would say that they liked the ballet and story. I hope you received the same report.
The Wednesday when we get back from break is Walk to School Day. I will be walking with Mrs. Kappel and Dr. Swift from the Walden Estates Dr. Cul-de-Sac and would love to have students walk with me (you are welcome to walk as well). There are several starting locations but if your child chooses to walk with me, you can just drop them off and we will walk together. Please just let me know so I have a count of who I am responsible for.
On Monday when we return, conference times will be sent home. Please sign and return as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.
We celebrated Ishan’s and Kennedy’s birthday today. Above is what their classmates had to say about them.
I wish you all a happy and safe break. I am looking forward to hearing about them whether you go somewhere or have a staycation.
Here is what we are learning the week of 9/30:
Reading/ELA- We will review all strategies taught so far and continue using context clues when we read.
Phonics –Short/long vowels and vowel teams and continued review of closed syllable words.
Writing- We will be wrapping up our unit on personal narratives.
Math- Our focus will be on problem solving using dimes, nickels, and pennies and using the cents symbol.
Social Studies- Government; We will talk about the importance of rules and laws and learn about the roles of the president, governor, and mayor.
Health: Health promotion; food choices and how they affect our energy, teeth, weight, and mood).
STEAM – Continuing with our year long project. We will be investigating a problem having to do with the Monarch butterfly. Stay tuned!
