Families,
I have been blown away at the creations your children are making using stop motion. We have studied the artwork of Eric Carle and these amazing children have used his style as inspiration in their own artwork. They are using stop motion to show the life cycle of a butterfly. Be on the lookout this week as these will be loaded to SeeSaw.
Here is what we are learning the week of 2/3:
Reading/ELA- Ask and answers such questions as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determines their central message, lesson, or moral.
Writing- Opinion writing; we are working on writing opinion pieces that introduce a topic or book, state an opinion, supply reasons that include linking words (because, and, also) and provide a concluding statement.
Expanding and rearranging sentences.
Math- Addition and subtraction to 1,000.
Social Studies- Juliette Gordon Low; describe her life, contributions, and character traits.
Science- Students will investigate how shadows, moon phases, and length of day change over various time periods.
STEAM – Artist Study: Eric Carle, Stop Motion, Monarch Garden Plans.
Items Needed:
Plastic grocery bags for Mrs. Chasko’s class
Paper towels
